Improved sand quality for Reddal Sand

CDE sand washing plant delivers significant improvement in product quality for Norwegian firm

A NEW sand washing plant from CDE Global for has resulted in a significant improvement in the quality of the sand being produced by Reddal Sand at Grimstad, in the south of Norway.

The company holds one of the best reserves of natural sand and gravel in the region but was concerned about the high level of fines and clay contamination in top 3 to 4 metres of the deposit, which was compromising the final quality of its sand product.

After investigating a number of wash systems and potential suppliers, Reddal Sand chose an Evowash sand washing plant from Northern Ireland-based CDE Global.

‘We chose CDE equipment as a result of the experience they were able to demonstrate in the provision of equipment for similar applications in many countries,’ said Morten Pedersen of Reddal Sand. ‘An additional factor in their favour was the flexibility they showed in terms of being able to customize the plant to the specific nature of the material we are processing.’

The new sand washing plant, which includes an Evowash 71 and Evowash 151, was supplied by CDE’s Norwegian representatives Ankerlokken Equipment. ‘The new installation allows us to maximize the production of quality sand and means we are able to offer a higher-quality sand product to our customers, which sets us apart from other suppliers in the area,’ said Mr Pedersen.

Current production capacity at the Grimstad site, following the addition of the two Evowash sand washing plants, is around 200,000 tonnes per year. Reddal Sand’s current processing licence is for an initial 20-year period with an option to extend this for several more years.
