Holcim appoint new senior manager

Onne van der Weijde appointed area manager and a member of the company’s senior management

ONNE van der Weijde, currently chief executive officer of Ambuja Cements Ltd, has been appointed area manager and a member of the senior management of Holcim Ltd, with effect from 1 January 2012.

Mr van der Weijde remains CEO of Ambuja Cements Ltd and will report directly to executive committee member Paul Hugentobler, responsible for South Asia /ASEAN excluding the Philippines.

A Dutch citizen, Mr van der Weijde started his career in 1990 in Holcim’s Dutch subsidiary Holderfin as international tax consultant. After this he was responsible for business development and acquisitions in Australia and chief financial officer at Holcim Indonesia from 2001 to 2005.

In 2005 he was appointed general manager of Holcim India Ltd and in 2006 he also assumed the CFO function at ACC Ltd until October 2008. He has been CEO of Ambuja Cements Ltd since November 2009.
