Hewitt Robins replace screen in record time
Hewitt Robins have completed a turnkey project to replace a failed Niagara D-11 screen at Lafarge’s Sonning Eye Quarry near Reading.
The existing Niagara screen was non-repairable so delivery of a new screen was very important.
Hewitt Robins supplied a replacement screen that was specially designed to replace the Niagara D-11 Screen and fit onto the existing support frame with minimum modification. The new screen was designed, manufactured and installed in a three-week timescale.
The V-11 1.6m x 4.8m double-deck screen is constructed of 10mm thick side plates with cross member spacing every 600mm. The two-bearing oil-lubricated screen was also supplied with a 11kW drive motor, close fitting guard, coiled springs, rubber cross member protection, whilst the polyurethane modules on the bottom deck and side-tensioned rubber on the top deck were re-used from the existing screen.
