Replacement horizontal twin-shaft horizontal screen for Co. Wexford-based Inish Pebble Co.

HEWITT Robins have recently supplied a replacement horizontal screen to one of Ireland’s premium sand and gravel sites.

Located in Co. Wexford, Inish Pebble Co. Ltd are the main suppliers of specialized silica sands in Ireland. The company produces a wide range of industrial sands, decorative stone, and pebbles for customers across Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe. However, the harsh saltwater environment at the company’ site takes its toll on conventional screening units, which usually only last a short seven-year period.

Hewitt Robins were awarded the contract to replace an American-brand 6ft x 20ft triple-shaft horizontal screen with a twin-shaft overhead unit horizontal screen. The new 6ft x 24ft screen was designed to fit into the existing installation with minimal modifications and produces six grades of washed product from 2mm up to 70mm.

The screen is fitted with an overhead vibrator unit to allow more access between the decks and to make any maintenance to the screenbox easier. Moreover, as the LPE-14 Hewitt Robins screen is installed in a very arduous coastal environment, it comes complete with polyurethane modular media, rubber cross-member protection, a three-layer marine paint specification, and a rubber-lined feed box and discharge lips.

Supplied by CSS (Crushing & Screening Services Ltd), the sole distributors of Hewitt Robins equipment in Ireland, the new screen has recently been installed and commissioned and is already said to be outperforming the previous triple-shaft machine and should continue to do so for many years to come.
