Heidelberg Materials take full ownership of Smiths Concrete
Move reflects Heidelberg Materials’ commitment to strengthen their footprint across Oxfordshire and Warwickshire
HEIDELBERG Materials, who have owned a minority stake in Banbury-headquartered Smiths Concrete since their inception in 1957, have acquired all outstanding shares from the Smiths family.
Simon Willis, chief executive officer of Heidelberg Materials UK, said: ‘Our full acquisition of the Smiths Concrete business reflects our commitment to the market and to the Smiths Concrete team. It is a further significant strategic step for our business as we seek to strengthen our footprint throughout Oxfordshire and Warwickshire.’
Going forward, Smiths Concrete will continue to operate as a stand-alone entity and there are no plans currently to change their branding or day-to-day operations. Similarly, they will continue to seek approval for their proposed new sand and gravel quarry at Wasperton Farm, Warwickshire.
Smiths Concrete operate seven concrete plants, two quarries, and an inert landfill site and predominantly supply house builders and trade customers across Warwickshire and Oxfordshire, along the M40 corridor.
