Heidelberg Materials join Dow Jones Sustainability Index Europe
Admission to DJSI Europe confirms consistent implementation of company’s ESG strategy
FOR the first time, Heidelberg Materials have been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Europe. The index is composed of European companies that have achieved outstanding results in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). The assessment is one of the world’s most prestigious ESG ratings and based on a transparent, comprehensive disclosure and assessment process.
Heidelberg Materials are among the top-performing companies in the S&P CSA 2024 with a score of 80/100, placing them in the top three percentile. Topics in which the company’s performance was rated particularly highly include climate strategy, transparency and reporting, business ethics, and product stewardship.
‘I am very pleased with this recognition and proud of what we achieved to date,’ said Dr Katharina Beumelburg, chief sustainability and new technologies officer and member of the managing board of Heidelberg Materials. ‘Our ranking in the DJSI Europe demonstrates how seriously and consistently we are approaching our transformation to Net Zero, addressing the full spectrum of environmental, social, and governance topics. This is a clear signal to our shareholders, who are closely following our transformation.’
DJSI was launched in 1999 as a pioneering series of global sustainability benchmarks. The index family consists of global, regional, and country-specific benchmarks. The Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index comprises European sustainability leaders identified by S&P Global in its Corporate Sustainability Assessment. Each year, companies that apply are evaluated using an industry-specific questionnaire. The full results and list of DJSI constituents are available via the DJSI Annual Review.
