Hawk fly high with Cat telehandlers
Finning receive largest single order for Cat C-Series telehandlers to date from Hawk Plant Hire
PLANT hire specialists Hawk Plant Hire are flying high following the purchase of 60 new Cat TH414C telehandlers, marking Finning’s largest single order for C-Series telehandlers in the UK and Ireland to date.
Increasing Hawk’s Cat telehandler fleet size to 80, the new Cat TH414C’s, launched this year, will join 20 previous-model Cat TH414’s purchased in 2011.
Commenting on the deal, Hawk Plant Hire director and general manager Paul Allman said: ‘Having purchased a number of telehandlers from Finning in 2011, we looked at our plant renewal programme and saw the price and support package that Finning offered was a good deal for the business.
‘As a business, we focus on service and reliability. Our customers expect to be able to hire from us the very latest equipment, from a quality manufacturer, with the best possible fuel consumption, so it is important that we continue to invest in our capabilities and we felt the high performance of the C Series, along with the above factors, was a key part of our decision-making process.
‘Finning also offered us additional support with their Finsight engineering team monitoring and service package. This means that the performance of each machine is constantly monitored, enabling us to react swiftly to any issues that customers may have on site.’
The Cat C-Series telehandler range comprises eight models with varying lift capacities, offering reach heights from 7m to 17m. Equipped with a spacious cab, each unit boasts a Stage IIIB-compliant engine and single-lever joystick control for all boom functions.
Commenting on the deal, Finning sales representative Paul Edwards said: ‘Following a demonstration of the new Cat TH414C telehandler to the team at Hawk Plant Hire, the performance upgrades to the new machine, focused around the new Stage IIIB-compliant engine, made it the perfect choice for the hire market.
‘With a very competitive market for plant hire and telehandlers in particular, the move to be the first business to have a major new fleet of regulation-compliant Cat TH414C telehandlers will certainly give Hawk Plant Hire a competitive edge.’
Marking another industry first, all of the new TH414C units will be fitted with VisionLink, the Caterpillar GPS system that allows data to be fed directly to the Finning Finsight engineering monitoring team in Cannock. The link to Finsight is a first for a single-product fleet in the compact product range and supports the goals of Hawk Plant Hire to become the leading supplier of equipment in the hire market.
With live feeds and Finsight experts monitoring the performance of each of the 60 Cat TH414C units, Hawk Plant Hire will know of any issues within minutes and be able to react swiftly, with Finning support, to prevent any unnecessary downtime, adding to the competitive advantage already provided by the improved TH414C range.
