Hanson supporting the Calvert Trust
Team of employees helping to renovate charity’s flood-damaged woodland bothy in Lake District
A TEAM of Hanson employees is helping to kick-start a refurbishment project in aid of the Calvert Trust, in the Lake District.
The six-strong team is renovating the charity’s woodland bothy – a building designed for hosting overnight stays.
The Calvert Trust offers people of all ages with sensory, learning or physical disabilities, the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities, including abseiling, horse riding and archery.
In December 2015, severe flooding devastated many areas of Cumbria, including the Trust’s woodland bothy.
At the time, funding for the charity’s renovation works was diverted to other areas also damaged by the floods and the works were put on hold.
Now that the charity is in a position to start the refurbishment project, Hanson employees volunteered to help out.
The team will strip the building of most of its current contents and fittings, overhaul the loft insulation and tidy up outside, to turn the bothy back into an attractive woodland retreat.
