Goodyear launch OTR tyres for wheel loaders

Goodyear RT-5D off-the-road tyre

Three new RT-5D sizes complete manufacturer’s successful wheel loader tyre range

GOODYEAR have announced the global launch of three new sizes in their successful RT-5D off-the-road (OTR) tyre range for wheel loaders at Intermat 2015. The Goodyear RT-5D product is a level 250 (L5) traction OTR tyre for use in arduous conditions such as quarries, recycling sites and opencast coal mines.

With the introduction of the RT-5D in 20.5R25, 23.5R25 and 26.5R25 sizes, the new tyres complete the Goodyear range of sizes that now covers all types of wheel loaders.

‘With the three brand new sizes of our successful RT-5D tyre, we now offer a comprehensive portfolio that can be fitted to all wheel loader types,’ said Octavian Velcan, managing director (OTR tyres) of Goodyear Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The Goodyear RT-5D Hi-Stability feature offers an enhanced innovative tread pattern, providing superior traction performance and a high level of protection against impact and shocks. The comfortable ride performance and longevity of the RT-5D product makes the tyre a good fit for ‘front of quarry’ applications in difficult operations.

Another key feature of the RT-5D range is the use of Hi-Stability carcass technology. It combines reinforcements in the bead area on the carcass breakers and at the ply turn-up, resulting in enhanced productivity performance, more protection for the sidewalls in aggressive environments and minimized deflection.

Goodyear say the RT-5D OTR tyre range carry up to 25% more load per cycle (versus a non-Hi-Stability carcass), thanks to a wide and solid non-directional tread.

Furthermore, the innovative tread design of the RT-5D delivers a high level of comfort for wheel loader operators; Goodyear claim vibrations on hard surfaces are reduced by up to 30% compared with the predecessor RT-5C range.
