G A Smith further invest in Bell machines

Bell B30E articulated dumptruck

Bulk handling specialist ramps up its Bell ADT fleet with three new B30E trucks

G A Smith Ltd have strengthened their relationship with Bell, following the purchase of three B30E articulated dumptrucks that brings the total number of Bell machines in the company’s fleet to 10, representing one-third of its fleet.

G A Smith only began their association with Bell in 2013 and the consistently excellent performance of the Bell ADTs immediately impressed managing director George Smith. ‘Bell are good on fuel, good on service and good on reliability,’ he commented. ‘Feedback from drivers has also been positive.’

The company’s first order with Bell consisted of four customized B40Ds machines, fitted with ‘specialist coal extensions’, which have helped the ADTs to operate extensively in demanding environments as well as serving G A Smith well for contract and hire work.

Having brought the first three B30Es in 2014, G A Smith decided to repeat another order for this year and they now have a total of six B30E machines, plus the four bespoke mining-spec articulated dumptrucks. The latest additions are already hard at work on a variety of contracts, reflecting the company’s growth over the past few years.

‘We’ve been very busy and work is progressing steadily, so it makes sense to invest in a reliable, fuel-efficient brand like Bell,’ said Mr Smith. ‘The company takes pride in every last detail, even down to aesthetics and Bell indeed produce one of the nicest looking trucks on the market.’

Nick Learoyd, managing director of Bell Equipment UK, commented: ‘G A Smith was relatively unfamiliar with Bell when we began discussing their needs two years ago. The rapid growth of using Bell products which now total one-third of their machinery fleet reflects the quality of manufacture and service across our range.’
