Frimstone open new rail depot in Cambridge
Rail-fed depot to improve aggregates supply to building projects across the region
FRIMSTONE have opened a new aggregates rail depot at Chesterton sidings in Cambridge. The site will receive aggregates from quarries in the Midlands to service the Cambridge construction sector.
The rail-fed depot is an important addition and will reduce aggregate transportation by road by 50,000 miles a year.
The rail operation is a 25-year investment for Frimstone, which will allow them to provide a consistent supply of aggregate products to the many infrastructure, residential and commercial projects planned across Cambridge and the surrounding areas.
Frimstone are a family-run business with a long history in Cambridge, operating a number of sand and gravel sites, aggregates recycling operations and railheads throughout Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
