First Volvo EC250D goes to Jim Jamieson

Volvo EC250D excavator

Scottish quarrying firm takes delivery of first EC250D excavator to be sold in Great Britain

ABERDEENSHIRE-based Jim Jamieson have taken delivery of the first Volvo EC250D excavator to be sold in the UK. Working at the company’s Ardelethen Quarry, the new machine joins a mixed fleet, including eight Volvo branded machines and an FMX road tipper.

The EC250D excavator is powered by a 6-litre Stage IIIB engine (202hp) that operates in conjunction with an advanced mode control system to ensure maximum hydraulic horsepower is delivered at a constant engine speed under varying load conditions.

Maximum reach with an intermediate dipper arm is 10.7m, while maximum digging depth is 7.34m. The lifting capacity across the carriage at full reach is 3.16 tonnes.

A number of different work modes for the task at hand are available on the EC250D, ensuring optimum performance and fuel efficiency. A new sophisticated hydraulics system on the excavator is designed for high productivity, enhanced digging capacity, easy manoeuvrability and class-leading fuel economy.

Independent and simultaneous movements of the digging equipment are controlled by an automatic sensing work mode. It can also prioritize flow according to the work; for example to the boom for faster raising when loading or in deep excavations.

The EC250D excavator also features an attachment-management system, which can store up to 18 presets and allows hydraulic flow to be adjusted as per the requirements of the attachment in use.
