First Doosan ADTs for Total Plant Hire
Manchester-based plant hire firm acquires two new Doosan DA30 articulated dumptrucks
TOTAL Plant Hire Ltd have expanded their rental fleet – which already includes more than 100 Doosan excavators and wheel loaders – with the addition of two new DA30 articulated dumptrucks (ADTs). The Doosan machines were purchased from Merseyside-based Norwest Plant, the authorized Doosan and Bobcat dealer for the North West and North Wales.
Thomas Halligan, owner of Total Plant Hire, commented: ‘We are delighted with the performance of the Doosan DA30 ADTs, which are the first dumptrucks in our fleet. We are always keen to provide a ‘one-stop’ service for our customers, covering all the machines needed for a site and we can back these up with more customized problem-solving and cost-saving solutions.’
As with all Doosan ADTs, the DA30 model features an articulation hinge positioned behind the turning ring to provide equal weight distribution to the front axle even during maximum steer articulation. This together with a free-swinging rear tandem bogie ensures equal distribution of weight to each wheel and delivers permanent six-wheel contact and drive for equal power distribution and optimum performance in difficult terrain.
According to Doosan, the combination of the forward turning point, unique tandem bogie and sloping rear frame results in ‘best-in-class’ rough and soft terrain capabilities and avoids the need for electronic aids such as traction control.
The DA30 is powered by the Scania DC9 Stage IIIB-compliant diesel engine with a gross power output of 276kW (375hp). The engine’s power is complemented by a high gross torque of 1,873Nm at 1,300 rev/min to produce the powerful rimpull required for work in extreme hauling conditions. Moreover, the increased engine power is combined with SCR technology for reduced fuel consumption and significant savings per tonne of material moved.
Since delivery, the Doosan DA30 ADTs have been hired for their first project by Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd on the latest phase of a £100 million urban village development, on the site of the former Vulcan Works, in Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside.
John Devonport, site foreman for Buckingham Group, said: ‘The new Doosan DA30 ADTs are driver-friendly and the operators have been very impressed with their operation on site. The visibility is excellent from the cab and we can monitor the tonnage easily and precisely via the payload meter on the trucks’ dashboards. I have also hired a larger Doosan excavator from Total Plant Hire to provide a better match for loading soil into the ADTs.’
