Executive changes at Vulcan

VULCAN Materials Company, the largest construction aggregates producers in the US, have announced several senior management changes in the company’s Construction Materials Group.

J. Thomas Hill, currently president of Vulcan’s Southwest Division, is to assume the position of president of the Florida Rock Division, with effect from 1 September 2010. Mr Hill, who joined Vulcan in 1996 and has served in his current position since 2004, will replace Thompson S. Baker II, who is leaving the company.

Also effective 1 September 2010, Stanley G. Bass, currently president of Vulcan’s Midsouth Division, will assume the additional role of president of the Southwest Division. Mr Bass joined Vulcan in 1996 and has served in his current position since 2005.

Vulcan have also announced that Ronald G. McAbee, senior vice-president West, will retire during the first quarter of 2011. Mr McAbee joined Vulcan in 1974 and has served in his current position since 2007.

Commenting on the changes, Vulcan’s chairman and chief executive officer Donald M. James said: ‘Tom Hill and Stan Bass have extensive experience with the company and in our industry. Both are well prepared and suited for their expanded responsibilities.’

Mr James went on to thank Tom Baker and Ron McAbee for their important contributions to the company, and wished them both well in their future endeavours and retirement respectively.
