ASTEC Industries Inc. have joined the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ENERGY STAR programme as a partner of the ENERGY STAR Service and Product Providers programmee – a first for the aggregate processing and road-building industries.

Through their voluntary partnership with the ENERGY STAR programme, Astec Industries will continue pioneering energy efficiency solutions that minimize environmental impacts throughout the heavy manufacturing industries, by helping their customers and stakeholders implement proven energy-saving strategies designed to enhance their organizations’ financial health and preserve the environment for future generations.

‘Astec are pleased to become an ENERGY STAR partner,’ said president and chief executive officer Jaco van der Merwe. ‘Through this partnership, we further our commitment to environmental stewardship by formalizing the delivery of energy performance improvements and financial value to our Rock to Road customers.’

In partnership with ENERGY STAR, Astec Industries will help their customers to embed energy management as a fundamental principle in their cultures and business operations, take action to realize cost savings through the implementation of energy efficiency projects in their operations, and increase an organization’s value, reduce risk, and deliver other business benefits.

Astec Industries will also encourage corporate staff and the larger community to learn about the benefits of energy efficiency and to look for and purchase ENERGY STAR products, and encourage other businesses to join ENERGY STAR.
