Double RoSPA Gold for Eurovia UK in 2014
Company proud of its safety achievements but still looking for further opportunities for improvement
EUROVIA UK have been awarded a twelfth consecutive Gold President’s Award for Occupational Health and Safety and a fourth consecutive Gold Award for the Management of Road Risk (MORR) from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
The RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards recognize company efforts to demonstrate continual improvement in the key areas of health and safety. The President’s Award for Occupational Health and Safety is only awarded to those firms having achieved 11 gold awards in as many consecutive years.
Scott Wardrop, chief executive of Eurovia UK, said: ‘A twelfth consecutive gold for our occupational health and safety programme, together with a fourth consecutive gold for the management of road risk, is a significant achievement for the group. Any organization would be proud to have such a record although as far as safety is concerned, we cannot rest on our laurels as there is always room for improvement.’
David Campbell, group health, safety and environment director, added: ‘Our safety culture is totally dependent on every member of staff following the correct procedures and feeling able to challenge other members of staff – including senior managers.
‘We have certainly come a long way, but there is still plenty more to do. We cannot sit back and think we have achieved ‘perfect safety’, as all this hard work could be undone by one serious incident. We need to keep looking for opportunities for improvement and continue to challenge each other throughout all of our businesses.’
