CEMEX concrete for Mexico’s largest petrochemical project

Etileno XXI project

Supply of various ready-mixed concrete mixes for challenging Etileno XXI project nearing completion

CEMEX say they are well on their way to completing the supply of 250,000 cubic meters of various specialized ready-mixed concretes for the construction of the new Braskem Idesa Etileno XXI plant in Veracruz, Mexico.

The plant, which will produce ethylene and polyethylene, is the largest petrochemical
investment in Mexico in the past 20 years.

CEMEX began supplying the project in 2012 with the construction of the foundations, and as of this week the company has delivered 80% of the 250,000 cubic meters of concrete required to complete the project.

Etileno XXI is expected to commence operations in 2015, producing more than 1 million tons of ethylene and polyethylene annually.

‘We are very proud to be participating in this massive industrial project in Mexico,’ said Juan
Romero, president of CEMEX Mexico. ‘This clearly exemplifies the way our portfolio of special products offers building solutions capable of prevailing in even the most challenging projects.’

Among the specialized concretes CEMEX are delivering for the complex construction project are self-compacting, high-resistance and architectural varieties.
