Volvo make a winning return at Brocklebank & Co Demolition with 12 new FMX tippers

Recycling firm takes delivery of 12 new FMX 8x4 trucks with Thompsons steel tipper bodywork

SHEFFIELD-based Brocklebank & Co Demolition have invested in 12 new Volvo FMX 8x4 tippers for their growing muckaway fleet. The new machines represent a return to the Volvo Trucks brand for the company after a two-year spell using a different marque.

Supplied by Volvo dealers Crossroads Truck & Bus, the FMX 8x4 units are powered by a 12.8 litre diesel engine, producing up to 420hp and 2,100Nm of torque, with Euro 6 compliance. The trucks also feature Volvo’s 12-speed I-Shift automated gearbox with enhanced software for construction and off-road applications.

Nick Brocklebank, owner of Brocklebank & Co Demolition, said: ‘In years gone by we’ve been predominantly Volvo, so we’re very happy to be going back to them again for this new order. It’s certainly proved a popular decision with the drivers.’

The Volvo FMX is built for the toughest conditions and most demanding assignments. It has also been designed to give a superior combination of agility, visibility and durability, keeping the driver safe and comfortable.

For their muckaway operation, Brocklebank & Co Demolition have specified the new trucks with Volvo’s X-High chassis and paired them with Thompson steel tipper bodywork. Each unit also benefits from the latest cab design offering superior operator comfort, with distinctive V-shaped LED headlamps, plus headlamp protectors, new anti-slip footsteps and a striking digital dashboard display.

In addition, the FMX cabs feature a leather steering wheel, DAB radio, rear window and engine tunnel storage, and two roof-mounted amber beacons to improve safety and visibility.

Brocklebank & Co Demolition expect the Volvo FMX tippers to clock up between 70,000km and 80,000km per year, removing waste materials from construction sites within a 30-mile radius of Sheffield.

The recycling operator has also taken out a Volvo Gold Contract on the trucks, which guarantees the best possible uptime, with servicing and maintenance being carried out at Crossroads Truck and Bus’ Rotherham depot.
