Boltight extend Echometer ultrasonic measurement range
New Echometer+ device measures load, stress and elongation on bolts up to 25.40m long
BOLTIGHT have expanded their range of ultrasonic measurement devices with the introduction of Echometer+. The new device uses the latest ultrasonic measurement technology and offers more features and performance than Boltight’s original hand-held Echometer.
Used for monitoring critical bolting applications, either during the installation of new plant or while carrying out routine maintenance, the Echometer+ unit can accurately measure load, stress and elongation on bolts up to 25.40m long.
It works by measuring the time of flight of a sound wave as it travels through a bolt. When the wave hits the end of the bolt it reflects back into the transducer, allowing a measurement to be taken. A new automatic correlation feature on the device is said to ensure accurate and repeatable transducer placement.
As well as being able to measure much longer bolts (25.40m versus 2.44m), Echometer+ is said to offer greater control in terms of how a waveform is transmitted with nine different pulse width options to choose from. Larger in size than the original hand-held Echometer, the new device incorporates additional hardware, including a sunlight-readable colour screen and built-in rechargeable batteries.
It also features a 4GB internal SD card and a 64GB external SD card memory slot. Recorded data can be transferred to a Windows PC or Apple computer via a USB 1.1 port, and files can be exchanged with the hand-held Echometer.
Dave Metzger, Boltight’s business development manager, commented: ‘The new Echometer+ unit is an excellent addition to our range of ultrasonic measurement devices. It complements the smaller handheld Echometer by offering more power, performance and functionality.’
