BAM Ritchies awarded quarry work in Togo
UK-based geotechnical contractor wins West African quarry contract from Granutogo S.A.
BAM Ritchies, the specialist geotechnical division of BAM Nuttall Ltd, have been awarded a contract by Granutogo S.A. (a HeidelbergCement company) to carry out primary drilling and blasting of between 300,000 and 600,000 tonnes per annum from a rock outcrop close to the township of Agbelouve, in Togo, West Africa.
The new quarry site is identified as Amelekpe migmatite on the accompanying map.
The quarry will be developed with 10–15m high benches, with BAM Ritchies providing all face-profiling, surveying, drilling and shotfiring services, as well as explosives and initiation accessories.
Granutogo will produce aggregates for concrete production from the quarry to sell to local construction markets, and to support existing group cement production capabilities within Togo at Lome and their new production facility being built at Tabligbo.
