Axtec become first ‘self-verifier’ for dynamic weighbridges

Axtec have gained self-verification status for their Series 4000 and Series 5000 dynamic axle weighing systems Axtec have gained self-verification status for their Series 4000 and Series 5000 dynamic axle weighing systems

Self-verification status negates the need for Trading Standards Officers, saving costs and eliminating delays

AXTEC, specialist manufacturers of axle weighing systems, have gained approval to self-verify their Series 4000 and Series 5000 dynamic weighbridges, marking another first for the Runcorn-based company, and a unique position for Axtec in the transport industry.

Utilizing their two specialist weighbridge test vehicles and highly trained staff, Axtec are now authorized to verify their dynamic weighbridges for use for sale of goods by weight and other legal purposes.

Self-verification means that Axtec dynamic weighbridges can be approved for trade use by the company’s own, authorized staff, without the need to bring in Trading Standards Officers to witness the test, saving costs and avoiding delays for customers.

Axtec say the approval is a notable acknowledgement of their position as the UK’s leading producer of vehicle axle weighing equipment, adding that the company frequently carries out maintenance work outside normal hours to meet customers’ Service Level Agreements, and the new approval will enhance its flexibility and service standards.

To obtain the approval from the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Axtec passed a thorough audit of their equipment and processes, which are already certified under their ISO9001:2015 quality system.

Dedicated to providing equipment to combat overloading, Axtec say they are the only manufacturer to specialize in axle weighing systems, and unique in operating weighbridge test vehicles which are compliant with the standards for dynamic weighbridges, as distinct from traditional single-plate static weighbridges.

Axtec dynamic weighbridges have an important advantage in not requiring the large space needed for a surface-mounted plate weighbridge, or the high construction cost and ongoing maintenance cost of a pit weighbridge. Axtec dynamic weighbridges’ ease of use and high throughput are also appealing characteristics.

‘We have always been proud to offer a complete turnkey service, including our in-house surveying, construction, installation, calibration, and service,’ said Axtec’s managing director, Keith Gresham.

‘This new accreditation means we can enhance that offering still further, improving service and value for our customers. It is also an acknowledgement of the high-quality products we develop, and the rigorous after-sales commitment which keeps our equipment in prime operating condition, optimizing its accuracy and reliability.’
