Alliance formed to implement new road-laying technology

Hanson Contracting

Hanson Contracting and Leica Geosystems working together to share knowledge and experience

HANSON Contracting and Leica Geosystems have formed a strategic alliance to improve road construction and maintenance safety, quality, and efficiency through the use of the latest technology.

The two companies are working together to share knowledge and experience to enhance the adoption of modern road construction methods. Together with key clients, they are working towards creating a connected and autonomous construction site.

Hanson Contracting will look to integrate Leica Geosystems’ 3D machine control solution on both milling and paving operations to better understand the advantages for both contractor and client.

Ian Price, managing director of Hanson Contracting, said: ‘The benefits of automation are far-reaching, in terms of quality and efficiency, and, most importantly, safety for our workforce. Machine control is essential on all National Highways’ projects and Leica Geosystems are supporting us on our journey to digitalization.’

Neil Williams, business director (heavy construction) at Leica Geosystems, added: ‘We are delighted to have been chosen as Hanson Contracting’s technology partner. Knowledge sharing is key to the success and evolution of our solutions and working closely together allows us to improve our understanding of the world of surfacing and road construction. This will help us deliver higher-quality, safer working environments and a much-improved end product to the benefit of everyone involved.’
