All change for Norwegian Hitachi dealer

New name, new headquarters and new logo for one of Norway’s oldest construction equipment suppliers

THE official Norwegian Hitachi dealer has started 2011 with a new name, new headquarters and new logo. Nasta AS is the new name for Nanset Standard AS – one of the country’s oldest suppliers of construction and excavation equipment.

Nasta began in Norway in 1929 and today provide a wide range of Hitachi machines to a variety of industries.

Tom Johansen, managing director of Nasta, believes the new name will modernize the company in a competitive market. ‘When Nanset Standard was named in 1929, Nanset was chosen because it was the place where Søren Røed started the company as a fuel station and Standard referred to the fuel product,’ he said.

‘But our company has gone through many changes since 1929 – during the last five years we have concentrated on the import, sale and service of construction machinery. Standard had already been consigned to history, as people began calling us simply Nanset around 15 years ago.

‘As this month also sees us move our headquarters from the Nanset area to new facilities at Bommestad, just outside Larvik, it was clearly the ideal time to update our name and logo too.’

He added: ‘In the increasingly competitive market we expect in the future, only the strongest and most innovative companies will survive. Having a clear profile will be crucial when competing with other large companies. That’s another reason we’re using the company name as a brand, trademark and logo. We want Nasta to be unique and the first choice for customers.’

In 2010, Nasta achieved an annual turnover of approximately €65 million, making them one of the four largest importers of construction machinery in Norway. The company employs 102 people and has sold Hitachi construction equipment since 1982.
