AGM Telematics for Town & Country Haulage

Aggregates specialist reduces fuel and maintenance costs with routeMaster vehicle-tracking system

TOWN & Country Haulage, the transport arm of Town & Country Aggregates, have reduced their fuel bills and maintenance costs since installing the routeMaster vehicle/driver tracking system supplied by AGM Telematics of Corby.

The company operates a mixed fleet of HGVs, from tippers to curtainsiders, delivering aggregates throughout Cheshire and the north west of England. A typical round trip averages 4h and orders are processed on a ‘next day’ basis. Now, 10 of Town & Country Haulage’s vehicles have been fitted with the routeMaster tracking technology.

‘Once the systems were installed, we could see the benefits,’ said company director Chris Morten. ‘We wanted to get tighter control on harsh acceleration, braking and cornering to see if we could reduce wear and tear on the fleet. Naturally, this was aimed at keeping maintenance costs down. Moreover, we have cut down on unnecessary idling and eliminated unscheduled journeys.’

All of this, say Town & Country Haulage, has increased efficiency and helped to maintain a more profitable operation for the business. AGM Telematics’ routeMASTER is a cloud-based modular tool set which consists of three components: Planner; Dispatch; and Tracking. Each module can be used individually or together to provide an ‘end-to-end logistics back-office solution’.

The entire routeMASTER platform is built on the latest ‘Here’ premium mapping platform with maps updated automatically every quarter, while all software updates are free for the life of the system.

‘We run a busy operation and this system takes away a lot of the hassle,’ said Mr Morten. ‘It’s easy to use and if ever we have a problem or query, the team at AGM usually sort it remotely. The system is good value and, in my view, a major plus for any transport operation.’
