Tony Large appointed as commercial director at UK’s leading sweeper hire company
AGGREGATES professional Tony Large has been appointed to the senior management team of Go Plant, the UK’s leading sweeper hire company, as part of the company’s commitment to driving forward best practice and future growth.
Mr Large (right of photo) has joined Go Plant as commercial director and will be responsible for ensuring delivery of targets for each of the company’s nine service centres and seven satellite depots across the country, as well as driving forward the long-term commercial objectives of the business.
Having held several senior management positions both in the UK and overseas, Mr Large has in-depth experience of the concrete and aggregates industry in particular, and in a previous role was responsible for growing a small business in the North West of Poland from 100,000 tonnes of aggregate production to more than 1 million tonnes, and increasing its turnover to in excess of £20 million.
Commenting on his new role, Mr Large said: ‘I’m very excited to be working alongside the team at Go Plant to facilitate their growth in terms of existing business, customer-focused activities, and through the development of new end-user sectors. This is a well-established company with a great reputation and a strong platform for additional growth.
‘Through my role, I’ll be in regular contact with each of our depots across the UK, focusing on further improving the service we provide our national key accounts, maintaining the strong local presence and identifying new commercial opportunities across the board, in particular the expansion of our contract hire division dedicated to serving local authorities.’
Mr Large’s career across the concrete and materials industry has also seen him hold a position on the board of directors at Emenite, in Nigeria, undertake a chief executive officer role in Egypt for an international organization with a $40 million turnover, and deliver a performance management function for a factory in Northern Ireland with sales of more than £20 million.
‘We’re thrilled to welcome Tony to the team,’ said Paul Langham (left of photo), managing director of Go Plant. ‘His expertise, skill set and knowledge, both in terms of commerciality and specifically within the construction and engineering sectors, are some of the most comprehensive in the field, making him an ideal addition to the team.
‘We’re very much looking forward to working alongside him in the months and years to come, and in working towards further exciting long-term growth and development here at Go Plant.’
