A big step forward in all-round visibility
Hillhead 2012 will be used to demonstrate the latest tool for improving machine and site safety
TDL Equipment will be offering the latest tool to improve machine and site safety – an ASL360 all-round vision system for mining, quarrying and construction equipment.
Through the careful siting of fish-eye cameras at four points around a machine, the cameras can cover potential blind spots to provide a 360-degree view of the vehicle.
While standard fish-eye images are almost unusable, the ASL360 system’s intelligent software algorithms straighten out the images and match them up to create clear views. These are then presented as a single bird’s-eye view of the machine and its surroundings to the operator through a large colour monitor mounted in the cab.
This all-round view allows the operator to safely manoeuvre the machine in the knowledge that the vicinity is clear of personnel and hazards while confidently positioning the vehicle during operational tasks, thus aiding productivity.
The ASL360 system was designed by ASL-Vision and developed for the off-highway industry by working in partnership with TDL Equipment and Scottish Coal.
This partnership has resulted in a significant step forward in machine all-round visibility that will be on show at the Terex Material Processing stand (L6) and also in the live demonstration area, where a Scottish Coal Terex TR100 rigid dumptruck fitted with the system will be in operation at various times during the morning and afternoon on the three show days (19–21 June).
