We are currently seeking an Assistant Quarry Manager to join the team based at Roan Edge Quarry, Cumbria,

The primary duty for this role will be to support our Quarry Manager in the overseeing of the safe and efficient management and operation of a busy Quarry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Quarry Manager 8(1)c in all operations in accordance with the Quarries Regulations 1999.
  • Working with all members of the Management team to continually raise the Health, Safety and Environmental standards of the Company.
  • Ensuring that all contractors who carry out work on the quarry site are inducted, monitored and supervised to ensure safe working practices are adhered to.
  • Ensuring that all plant and equipment is maintained to a high standard.
  • Ensuring that the site is maintained in a condition which creates ownership and responsibility.
  • Ensuring that production systems and products comply with all current quality standards.
  • Ensuring that company and regulatory inspections and reports are completed.
  • Liaising with the sales team and customers to ensure the sites deliver the highest standards in customer service.
  • Whilst training will be given, you will ideally hold the IOSH Managing Safety qualification, be qualified to 8(1)d level. Level 6 QCF would be beneficial.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise:

  • You will  have a sound knowledge of crushing and screening using static plant, maintenance activities on both fixed and mobile plant, experience in blasting and can effectively plan and organise quarrying operations. 
  • Ideally, an IOSH Managing Safely qualification and 8(1)d level certification.
  • A QCF level 6 (equivalent NVQ level 4/5) in Health, Safety & Environmental management within the extractives industry would be a valuable asset.
  • Possess good leadership skills to promote positive team working; communicate effectively with other functions within the business.
