We are now looking for an HM Inspector of Quarries to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week.

The Role

As an HM Inspector of Quarries, you will be responsible for reviewing quarrying activities across Great Britain to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.

Specifically, you will inspect workplaces, investigate incidents and provide guidance and advice to promote better health and safety practices.

You will also represent us at meetings with quarry operators, trade associations and professional bodies to promote safe quarrying practices.

Additionally, you will:

  • Produce concise and accurate written reports of inspections and investigations

  • Provide support and advice to colleagues on operational and regulatory matters

  • Contribute to the development of industry guidance, standards and operational strategy

About You

To be considered as an HM Inspector of Quarries, you will need:

  • Experience managing, supervising or regulating quarrying operations

  • Knowledge of the range of major hazards and other hazards in quarrying and related activities and how to manage the associated risks

  • A relevant academic engineering qualification

  • Professional membership grade of the Institute of Quarrying (or equivalent body) or the ability to work towards this

  • A full, valid driving licence

Please note, this role requires significant travel across the United Kingdom and frequent stays away from home.
