First published in the May 2022 issue of Quarry Management
In just over a month’s time, Tarmac’s Hillhead Quarry, near Buxton, Derbyshire, will host the world’s largest and most iconic quarrying, construction, and recycling exhibition following a four-year hiatus. This year celebrating its 40th anniversary, over the past four decades Hillhead has grown to be a show like no other – from its humble beginnings at Jackdaw Crag Quarry in 1982, to the spectacular and unique experience it is today. From 21–23 June, more than 600 UK and international suppliers of plant, equipment, materials, and services will be in attendance with a huge range of exhibits on static display and/or live demonstration. With more companies showcasing their products and services than ever before, Hillhead 2022 is set to become the biggest working quarry show to date. On the following pages, QM previews some of the latest plant, technological innovations, and services to look out for at this leading event for the industry.
Already official suppliers of McCloskey, GIPO, McCloskey Environmental and MWS equipment, Agg-Pro (Aggregate Processing & Recycling) have recently been awarded the exclusive distribution rights for central and southern England, and Wales for the Lippmann range of crushers, screeners, and stackers. Agg-Pro managing director Geoff Caves said: ‘Lippmann need no introduction; they are a brand that have designed and manufactured quality aggregate processing equipment for close to a century. We are immensely proud to be one of the first to bring Lippmann to the UK market. Adding Lippmann to our portfolio only serves to increase the quality and range we can offer our customer base.’ Kevin Kiesgen, vice-president of Lippmann, added: ‘I can see many similarities between the company ethos at Agg Pro and at Lippmann, which excites me for our potential together. We cannot wait to get started and look forward to exhibiting our products at the famous Hillhead Quarry and Recycling Expo in June.’

Hillhead 2022 will see the debut of Atlantic Pumps’ much-talked-about water quality management system EnviroHub, which was launched to the quarrying industry in 2020. With sites now required to provide proof of safe water disposal and water quality checks routinely being carried out by the Environment Agency and SEPA, a robust treatment and monitoring system, such as EnviroHub, plays a vital role. Disposing of water that contains pollutants can result in heavy fines and can damage a company’s reputation. In addition to monitoring and reporting water quality on site, EnviroHub can inform the site if the water is unsafe to be disposed of and can automatically intervene, ensuring that any water the site does dispose of is treated and free from pollutants. However, EnviroHub will not be the only debutant on Atlantic’s stand; also making a first appearance at Hillhead will be one of the company’s new small but powerful remote-controlled dredgers.
