W&J Chambers make winning Volvo truck bid at auction
Building products supplier takes delivery of Volvo FMX 8x4 tipper from Dennison Commercials
LONDONDERRY-based W&J Chambers Ltd have strengthened their haulage fleet with the addition of a 2014 Volvo FMX 8x4 tipper from Co. Antrim-based Dennison Commercials.
Dennison made the decision to offer the Volvo truck to the marketplace via a silent auction due to the high demand for such vehicles in the second-hand market. Potential bidders were invited to tender their offers via the company’s used-truck website.
The truck, which was originally a vehicle demonstrator for Dennison, was specified from new with a number of extras, including: a Volvo Drive+ package with Bluetooth, air-conditioning and arm rests; a beacon bar; front and rear strobe lights; and a reversing camera.
The tipper is also equipped with an I-Shift automated gearbox, a double-skinned steel C-Tec body with a Hyva front-end ram, and Dynafleet, Volvo’s telematics system.
Since delivery to the successful bidder, the FMX tipper has been painted in W&J Chambers’ colours, and David Bowes, vehicle handover specialist for Dennison, has trained the company’s drivers on the new Volvo technology featured on the truck.
Rob Ireland, sales director for Dennison Commercials, said: ‘Despite the fact that our FMX demonstrator was advertised widely within the UK and Ireland, we were delighted that a local company was the highest bidder. We wish W&J Chambers all the best with their new asset.’
