Volvo Trucks to run fuel-efficiency workshops at this year’s FTA Transport Manager conferences
AT this year’s Freight Transport Association’s Transport Manager conferences, sponsors Volvo Trucks will be presenting an interactive workshop on the findings of their Driver Challenge competitions, highlighting fuel issues such as empty running, engine idling and coasting.
Volvo will be using interactive presentation tools to compare delegates’ expectations with their research results in order to inspire attendees to examine the realistic impact of fuel efficiency within their own fleet.
Volvo will also be running a prize draw at each of the 13 Transport Manager events; the prize will be the use of a Volvo Truck for a week between February and September 2014 (year, model and exact time period to be at the discretion of Volvo Trucks).
This truck will operate Dynafleet, an on-board Volvo Trucks telematics system, and as part of the prize Volvo will provide the winner with feedback on driver techniques during the week.
The winner will also have the opportunity to enter in the Volvo Trucks Driver Challenge 2014.
Amanda Hiatt, Volvo Trucks’ marketing & PR director, said: ‘Volvo Trucks are very pleased to sponsor the FTA Transport Manager series. With its focus on targeting key issues, it represents an excellent opportunity for us to engage with operators on maximizing fuel efficiency and reducing environmental impact.
‘These are areas in which we have built considerable expertise, together with a valuable track record in helping operators reduce fuel bills and CO2 emissions. The data we are using was gathered from ‘over the road’ running during Volvo Trucks’ Driver Challenge events.
‘With its emphasis on actual data, we think that delegates will find our interactive workshop extremely useful and, indeed, inspirational.’
