What a hoot!
CHANNEL Four’s Wild Thing: I Love You environmental programme, presented by comedian Bill Bailey, recently visited Bardon Aggregates’ Stoneycombe Quarry near Newton Abbott, Devon, as part of a project to build a new barn owl refuge for local charity The Barn Owl Trust.
Bardon Aggregates provided free building materials, including several tonnes of aggregate, sand, blocks and walling stone, to construct a new 4m2 tower refuge in Ashburton.
Quarry manager Duncan McIntosh said: ‘Bill Bailey and the TV crew visited Stoneycombe to find out how aggregate and sand is extracted. Bill observed and assisted our team during a controlled blast and helped to select some of the walling stone which was used for the refuge.
‘Playing an active role in the communities in which we operate is central to our whole outlook. We were therefore happy to help the Trust by donating the materials.’
