CDE unveil first global X5 ProPress installation
Largest model in new ProPress range set for commissioning in Australia later this year
CDE are set to install the first X5 ProPress in Australia, marking a major global milestone for the wet-processing specialist and its next-generation filter press technology.
First unveiled at Hillhead 2024, the ProPress series delivers advanced water recycling and operational efficiency, enabling up to 95% of process water to be recovered for immediate reuse. The X5 model, the largest in the range, is scheduled for full commissioning in Q4.
According to James Murphy, CDE’s head of business development for Asia Pacific: ‘The ProPress is our response to minimizing freshwater dependency and maximizing water recycling while improving capacity, reducing operating costs, and minimizing downtime. This technology will be key for our customers in regions where water resources are particularly scarce.’
Designed to integrate with existing plants, the ProPress uses dual-feed technology for faster dewatering and higher throughput, while its overhead beam design improves durability. The system comes with larger 2.5m x 2m plates and plate-shaking technology, which addresses filter cake build-up within chambers to help reduce the need for manual intervention.
The ProPress also features an innovative multifunctional robot that acts as the system’s main workhorse, automating plate opening, shaking, cloth washing, winching, and maintenance platform functions. By reducing mechanical movement, the robot enhances reliability, lowers maintenance costs, and maximizes overall uptime.
The first worldwide X5 installation underscores CDE’s wider commitment to innovation, sustainability, and zero-waste operations, supporting Australia’s water conservation goals and the global drive toward cleaner, more efficient resource recovery.
Mr Murphy concluded: ‘We’re excited to see how this innovation brings value to their operations whilst allowing for maximum recovery of resources. Sustainable water management is so important to both CDE and our customers, and that’s why we’re so delighted to see the first installation of this pioneering technology in Australia.’
