Weir Minerals unveil latest Warman pump
WGR slurry pump for abrasive sand and gravel applications to be launched in Europe this summer
WEIR Minerals will launch the latest edition in their range of Warman centrifugal pumps – the WGR slurry pump – in Europe this summer.
Incorporating Weir Minerals’ market-leading Linatex rubber, the WGR pump has been specifically designed for wear resistance in abrasive slurry-pumping applications.
The pump has been optimized for sand and aggregates production processes but is said to be suitable for use across many areas of industrial minerals and in lighter mineral-processing applications.
It includes several new and innovative features which reduce internal turbulence and minimize power draw.
For example, large-diameter impellers optimize performance, promote efficiency and prolong the pump’s life, while the casing design provides easy access to internal parts for servicing, to ensure repairs can be made quickly and downtime minimized.
The WGR is available in nine different sizes ranging from 35mm to 250mm, with the largest unit capable of delivering a flow rate in excess of 1,200 cubic metres per hour.
Weir Minerals have been testing the WGR pump’s operational performance at selected sites across Europe over the past two years and say feedback from clients has been very positive.
The WGR will be available in other Weir Minerals locations around the world later in the year.
Harvinder Bhabra, senior product manager at Weir Minerals Europe, said: ‘Slurry pumps are at the heart of modern extraction processes, so their reliability is crucial to entire site operations. However, these demanding requirements must be balanced with a financially sustainable cost model.
‘We have used the latest innovative technology within the WGR design to support the challenges of our clients, and the pump itself has been built to outperform and outlast its rivals.’
Other key features of the new WGR design include:
- An innovative, remote-adjusting D-gland assembly, as well as the traditional packed gland, and centrifugal expeller options.
- Removable suction front door on the larger sizes, allowing ease of removal of the impeller and gland seal.
- Removable discharge adaptor, to allow removal of the suction casing without disturbing the discharge pipework.
- Impeller-release collar.
