Hanson Bath & Portland Stone’s Coombefield Quarry on the Isle of Portland has taken delivery of a Volvo L330 forked loading shovel capable of extracting dimension stone and lifting boulders weighing up to 30 tonnes. The machine is believed to be the largest fork shovel currently working in a UK stone quarry.
