WCL take delivery of third Reclaimer from Finlay
West-Midlands quarry company expand into wood waste recycling
Expansion into wood waste recycling has seen West Midlands quarry company WCL take delivery of their third Terex Finlay 883 Reclaimer from Finlay Central.
The new plant is allowing WCL to process and prepare wood waste on site to produce recycled wood chip.
This is then providing cost-effective, degradable and highly absorbent animal bedding product for cattle, pigs and poultry. It is also being used in the equestrian market as a ground covering for outdoor arenas and as a surface for horse gallops.
Over the last few years WCL have built up a fleet of Terex Finlay machinery – with support from Finlay Central – part of the Finlay Group of companies.
This fleet is helping WCL’s Cranebrook Quarry - located between Lichfield and Brownhills – reach new markets through a diverse range of activities, which have acted as a platform for the company’s continued growth and success.
Along with wood waste recycling, WCL carry out inert waste recycling, decorative aggregate sales and landfill, as well as the traditional extraction of dry screened building sand.
Last year a new Terex Finlay 883 Reclaimer - which replaced a five-year-old 883 also supplied by Finlay Central - was introduced to the site as a multi-purpose machine.
This machine started WCL on to the process of reprocessing waste wood, as well as demolition rubble, used in building waste reclamation, and the reprocessing of rejected sand - working with an existing Terex Finlay 390 Hydrascreen portable screening machine, used to process dry screened building sand.
A spokesperson for WCL Quarries, said: 'We have worked with Finlay Central to acquire the necessary plant to support the company’s sustained growth.
'As well as choosing the right machinery, we benefit from Finlay Central’s support and service back-up, which is crucial for the smooth running of the site.'
Along with the two new Terex Finlay 883 Reclaimers and 390 Hydracreen, other machinery at the site supplied by Finlay Central includes two Terex Finlay 683 three-way-split machines, used to produce MOT Type 1 crushed concrete, and recycle wood waste, as well as a Terex Finlay J-1175 jaw crusher.
The purchase of the latest 883 is only the second time WCL have brought machinery new. Previously, all machines supplied by Finlay Central have been purchased second hand by WCL.
Neil Bailey, sales engineer of Finlay Central, said: 'The reprocessing of wood waste into a new revenue stream illustrates the adaptability of the 883, whatever the application or industry.
'WCL have prospered by taking an innovative approach to waste management and we are delighted to offer continued support to help them achieve sustained growth.'
