Weir Waste expand operations with new construction and demolition waste recycling plant

KIVERCO, specialists in designing and manufacturing robust recycling plants, are renowned in the waste sector for their solid and high-performing equipment. And this long-lasting quality was recently demonstrated when customer Weir Waste requested their existing Kiverco equipment was incorporated into a new C&D waste processing plant at Oldbury, near West Bromwich.

Having experienced long service life from their old plant, Weir Waste wanted to have the perfectly run 10-year-old Kiverco pan feeder and 830 trommel work in conjunction with the new recycling facility.

As with all Kiverco projects, a detailed project plan and installation programme were put in place, which allowed the plant to be erected but without the two aforementioned key components. These were carefully removed from the existing plant before they were installed on the same day at the new location. Both the pan feeder and trommel were also tested to ensure their compatibility and capability to work with the new facility.

Jason Shaw, processing manager for Weir Waste, said: ‘When we first moved to the new site in Oldbury four years ago, we chose Kiverco to design, build and install a semi-automated, 25 tonnes per hour commercial and industrial waste recycling facility. The plant has been instrumental to our growth and has contributed to the many contract wins we’ve received in recent years. When it came for the need to install a new C&D line, there was only one choice of manufacturer.’

John Lines, sales and marketing director for Kiverco, added: ‘We were delighted to be chosen by Weir Waste to handle this project for them. We have long talked about our robust and solid equipment, so we knew that the trommel and pan feeder would give them many more years of service, so it made perfect commercial sense to use them again. As always, our installation team were extremely capable of dealing with the different challenges of this project and we are proud of the result we achieved.’
