Volvo Trucks announce vehicle line-up at Truckfest 2015

Volvo Truck heavy haulage tractor unit

A selection of models from the FL/FE range and FM, FH and FH16 tractors units will be among the display

VOLVO Trucks will be showcasing their most impressive and visually stunning range of vehicles at Truckfest 2015 (3-4 May) held at Peterborough.

On display will be some models from the FL and FE range (from 10-tonne up to 26-tonne gvw), FM and FMX construction trucks, FM, FH and FH16 tractor units, as well as a used truck exhibition area that includes a new contract hire offer for ‘classic’ FH and FM trucks.

An FM 8x4 tipper, equipped to meet the CLOCS (Construction Logistics and Cycle Safety) standard, will also be on the Volvo stand.

The FM 8-wheeler, which is in the high visibility livery of the Metropolitan Police, is being used by the Commercial Vehicle Unit who police the operation and use of goods vehicles in the English capital. The Met is working with Transport for London to reduce accidents involving vulnerable road-users, via the ‘Exchanging Places’ cycle programme and the implementation of the London Safety Zone from 1 September 2015.

The trucks on display will include: the FH16-750 6x2 tractor unit; and making its first appearance at Truckfest, the FH16-750 8x4 Tridem STGO CAT3 heavy haulage tractor unit.

Visitors to the Volvo stand will also be able to see the FH16-750 8x4 Tridem, which features 12-speed I-Shift transmission, together with RTH2610F hub-reduction tandem drive axles.

While the front axle is rated at 10 tonnes, the pusher-axle and tandem drive-axles constitute a combined bogie with a rating of 35 tonnes. As a result, the FH16-750 tractor unit has a gvw of 45 tonnes.

A new ‘driver development and training’ themed FH 6x2 tractor unit with trailer will be on show. With its additional seating and safety belts, this innovative truck provides an efficient and safe, mobile learning environment for professional drivers taking part in Volvo’s nationwide driver development programme.
