Volvo start delivering their EC700B excavator
VOLVO Construction Equipment are to commence deliveries of their new heavyweight excavator –– the EC700B LC –– following the successful completion of intensive field trials. Designed for extreme use in heavy applications such as quarry loading, mass excavation and civil engineering, the 70-ton machine is said to combine aggressive performance with low owning and operating costs.
‘We recognized the need in the global market for an excavator of this size, capacity and production capabilities,’ said Tony Helsham, president of Volvo CE. ‘The result is an excavator with field-tested components and extensive engineering that is pure Volvo.’
Available in either standard or mass-excavation (ME) configurations, the EC700B is equipped with a Tier 3-compliant Volvo D16E EAE3 engine –– the largest-capacity engine in its class –– featuring Volvo Advanced Combustion Technology (V-ACT) and offering 464hp (gross) at 1,800 rev/min.
