Volvo heavy hitter for AR Demolition
First FH16-705 ordered in UK and Ireland enters service with East Midlands-based demolition firm
THE first Volvo FH16-750 to be ordered in the UK and Ireland has entered service with Leicestershire-based AR Demolition.
Supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Centre East Anglia at Bardon, the truck’s specification includes a 150-tonne STGO Cat3 plate and the full suite of Volvo cab accessories, such as leather upholstery, the majority of which are fitted as standard with the top of the range flagship truck.
AR Demolition’s owners, Andrew Thompson and Richard Dolman, have also equipped the FH16-750 with extra working lights mounted on the cab roof at the rear, together with an LED flashing beacon bar.
Configuration is 6 x 4 double drive with hub reduction axles and heavy-duty drive axle bogie suspension. I-Shift is also specified and this has proved to be to the liking of the FH16-750’s driver Andy Brown, who said he would not go back to a manual gearbox again.
‘The 3,550Nm of torque provided by the 16-litre D16G engine makes light work of the heavy machinery I deliver – even when fully laden on gradients like Corley Bank and Keele Bank on the M6,’ added Mr Brown.
The FH16-750 is coupled to a new Nooteboom low-loader trailer equipped with four axles, two of which are steered to aid manoeuvrability on and off site.
