Two new Bell ADTs for Hermitage Quarry

Bell B50D articulated dumptruck

Gallagher Aggregates choose Bell B50D articulated dumptrucks for quarry extension project

GALLAGHER Aggregates Ltd have purchased two new articulated dumptrucks (ADTs) from Bell Equipment following the granting of planning permission for the extension of Hermitage Quarry near Maidstone, Kent.

The company’s ongoing investment programme had been held back while the future of Hermitage Quarry was uncertain, but with planning permission finally granted in 2013, Gallagher are now guaranteed at least another 25 years of production at the site.

To ensure the quarry has the best and most up-to-date machinery available, when the decision was made to replace two Bell ADTs, Gallagher did not hesitate in going back to Bell Equipment.

Pat Gallagher, chairman of the Gallagher Group, said: ‘Once we knew that the quarry had a long future ahead of it, we could implement plans to invest in the best plant and machinery that we could.

‘The old Bell ADTs have served us well over the last eight years, so we knew immediately that we would go back to Bell Equipment to get our replacements. The trucks will be worked hard with the new quarry extension and we know that they will live up to the challenge.’

The machines in question are both Bell B50Ds – the largest ADTs available on the market.  Designed and manufactured by Bell to deliver robust performance and exceptional fuel efficiency, they remain unsurpassed in terms of payload.

Commenting on the continuing good relationship with Gallagher Aggregates, Nick Learoyd, managing director of Bell Equipment UK, said: ‘There is no better sign of a satisfied customer than when they return for more machines. We’re delighted that our ADTs continue to impress the Gallagher Group and that our technology will continue to play a vital role in production at Hermitage Quarry.’
