Turkish delight for Kleemann

Kleemann mobile impact crusher and screening plant excelling on all fronts on key Istanbul recycling project

A HIGH-performance Kleemann Mobirex MR 130i EVO2 mobile impact crusher, together with a Mobiscreen MSS 802i EVO coarse screening plant, are helping to provide on-site crushing and recycling of inert materials for construction and demolition contractors Safir Proje.

The aggregate processing equipment is said to be excelling on a major excavation/recycling project in Istanbul’s growing financial district, where the machines are delivering superior product shape and consistency, increased throughput, higher uptime, and lower operating costs.

Among Safir Proje’s key prerequisites for purchasing the Kleemann Mobirex MR 130i EVO2 mobile impactor and Mobiscreen MSS 802i EVO unit were high machine availability and flexibility.

‘We will be working in the centre of Istanbul for about one-and-a-half years,’ said Feyzullah Kahraman, managing director of Safir Proje. ‘Some one million tonnes of excavated material from the construction site will be processed during this time. We must be especially flexible at this location, both in terms of the particular environment and the material.’

Looking ahead, Mr Kahraman decided to purchase two new Kleemann mobile plants for this special application, with the added benefits of high performance, low fuel consumption, and ease of operation/transportation.

Feed materials (feed size: 0-500/0-600mm) on site – ranging from construction rubble and natural stone to mixed materials – presented challenging changing conditions, as the recyclable waste materials at times can be wet and muddy, or dusty and dry.

Kleemann had the ideal solution for adapting to these changing weather conditions. In wet weather, the Mobirex MR 130i EVO2 impact crusher is preceded by the Mobiscreen MSS 802i EVO coarse screening plant which loosens the sludgy material, screens it coarsely, and prepares it for feeding to the impact crusher. This first step is not required in dry conditions and the excavated material can be fed directly to the impact crusher.

‘It has been shown that this combination produces the very best results,’ commented Mr Kahraman. ‘In terms of product quality and cost-effectiveness, we produce grain sizes of 0/38 and 0/63 and, depending on the end-product, can achieve an hourly output of 200 to 300 tonnes with a consumption of 24 litres.’

Mr Kahraman has not only been impressed with the high-capacity crushing but also the quality of the recycled products. ‘The impact crusher meets the requirements for the cubic material very well. I've never achieved this quality before,’ he remarked.

Today, Safir Proje’s operations at the Istanbul site are running smoothly. The Kleemann mobile plants’ favourable ergonomics and easy access to all relevant parts for service and maintenance have won over the Turkish recycling firm’s employees. ‘Thanks to SPECTIVE, handling the impact crusher is very straightforward and clear,’ said Mr Kahraman. ‘Operation is so intuitive that hardly any familiarization time was required. Of course, my employees are also quite proud to be able to work with a Kleemann.’
