TDL give Genie telehandlers a lift

Terex Distribution appointed official UK distributors of Genie compact and high-reach telehandlers

Terex Distribution Ltd (TDL) have been appointed the official UK distributors of Genie’s compact and high-reach telehandlers for the construction, waste, recycling and agricultural sectors. TDL will offer six Genie telehandler models ranging in size from 6m and 7m compact units through to the larger 13m and 17m high-reach machines.

Although compact in design, the GTH 2506 and GTH 3007 offer maximum lift heights of almost 6m and 7m with load capacities of 2.5 tonnes and 3.0 tonnes, respectively. These rugged machines have easy-to-operate controls making them suitable for the rental market. Their compact dimensions and tight turning circles (3.35/3.8 outside radius) make them well suited to working on confined sites found in waste re-handling stations and metal recycling operations, landscaping, construction and agricultural sectors. The 6m machine is less than 2m high enabling it to work inside confined spaces and height-restricted areas.

For those needing higher reach capacities, TDL will also be marketing Genie’s GTH 4013 and GTH 4017 machines, which are built on larger chassis, offer lift heights of 13m and 17m respectively, and can handle loads of up to 4 tonnes. Both models are available as Standard Fix (SX) configuration with fixed axles or Elite Fix (EX) with chassis leveling (±7 degrees) on the front axle. Front stabilizers are standard on all high-reach machines.

All Genie telehandlers come equipped with hydrostatic transmission, four-wheel drive (with limited-slip differentials on the front axles) and three steering modes giving them ‘go anywhere’ capability and high maneuverability. Travel speeds of 30km/h or above are achievable on all but the 6m unit. Oil-immersed disc brakes are used on the front axles of the compact machines and all-round on the high-reach machines.

To enhance safety all the Genie machines are fitted with angle and reach indicators on the boom, which correspond directly with the load chart in the cab. There are audible and visual load indicator warnings as well as an automatic boom lockout to prevent machine instability when extending or lowering the loaded boom. The standard auxiliary hydraulic line on the boom can power a range of attachments such as concrete mixing buckets and discharge skips, sweeper/collector buckets and lifting attachments.

Both the high-reach and compact machines share the same spacious operator’s cabin with a 90 degree opening door for easy access, large windows to maximize visibility and grouped controls for easy operation.  Suspended seats enhance operator comfort and air conditioning is an option on all models.
