Tarmac Contracting

Contracting business wins highways resurfacing contract worth £30 million over two years

TARMAC’s Contracting business has been awarded a significant two-year, £30 million road-surfacing contract across Gloucestershire.

Tarmac will take over the contract in April 2018. As part of the council’s commitment to the county’s highways over the next five years, the new contact will deliver £10 million of resurfacing works in its first year and £20 million in its second year.

Paul Fleetham, managing director of Tarmac’s Contracting business, said: ‘We’re delighted to have secured this highways contract with Gloucestershire County Council. We have worked closely with them to deliver highway maintenance schemes over the past 12 years and look forward to continuing this partnership in a direct capacity.

‘I am confident that we will continue to not only provide value for money, but also use our innovative products and expertise to help the council further improve their highways asset.’

Councillor Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, added: ‘We’ve been doing our homework very thoroughly. I’m confident the award of the resurfacing contract will make the most of the council’s investment and deliver value for money.

‘I fully support the award of this contract and look forward to Tarmac working with us to deliver effective resurfacing works across the county.’
