Legendary athlete to give presentation on Olympic spirit at Institute of Quarrying’s Midlands branch
ON Monday 14 March 2011, the Midlands branch of the Institute of Quarrying is hosting an evening of presentations on the Olympics at The Forest Hill Golf Club, Botcheston, Leicestershire.
To begin the evening, Rachel Krzeminski, customer liaison manager – major projects with Aggregate Industries UK Ltd, will give a presentation based upon her experience during the construction of the 2012 Olympics.
She will talk about the scope of the Olympic project and the essential role that sustainability has played throughout the bid, supply and construction process. Rachel will also explain the legacy of the London 2012 Olympics and describe the impact not only on the local area, but also on the future of the construction industry.
Next to speak will be legendary athlete, TV presenter and motivational speaker Steve Cram MBE. One of the most successful middle-distance athletes of all time, Steve’s career has spanned three decades since he first appeared as a 17-year-old at the Commonwealth Games in 1978.
His many athletic achievements include six gold medals at Commonwealth, European and World Championships, and a silver medal at the Olympics. He will deliver an inspirational presentation on the Olympic spirit and what it is really like to win an Olympic medal.
The Midlands branch extends an invitation to all Institute members and their guests to join them from 6.30pm for what promises to be an exciting and informative evening.
