Security on agenda for chain firm
Donghua awarded ISO 27001 certification
Donghua Ltd, the UK arm of one of the world’s biggest chain manufacturers, have been awarded ISO 27001 certification following an assessment by NQA, an independent certification body. ISO 27001:2005 is an internationally recognized standard that certifies companies have a proven information security management system (ISMS).
Bob Wellsbury, managing director of Midlands-based Donghua Ltd, explained: ‘This is a really important certification for us because it demonstrates to existing and potential customers that Donghua is ‘the best in class’ by having security controls and risk-management practices in place to manage the security of our customer’s information, specifically relating to order processing, warehousing and distribution of our chains, sprockets and attachments. This certification is particularly relevant to sectors where management of confidential or sensitive information is paramount.’
An ISMS encompasses people, processes and IT systems and this standard requires that Donghua examine information security risks, implement comprehensive information security controls and risk-management practices, and ensure that the information security controls continue to meet the company’s needs.
The Hangzhou Donghua Chain Group serves customers globally and produces over 30 million metres of finished chain per year. The headquarters in China have achieved a number of internationally recognized quality standards and all subsidiaries are expected to have this same commitment. Donghua Ltd received certification to ISO 9001 in 2010.
