Security camera
StealthCam digital cameras, originally introduced for wildlife viewing, are also suitable for security and surveillance applications as they are supplied in an all-weather housing.
Two models in the range use passive infrared technology (PIR), making them suitable for security purposes as they do not flash when triggered by heat or motion.
The STC-IR1 is a 5.0-megapixel camera that uses 63 infrared emitters to illuminate the coverage area. It also features: a 32MB built-in memory, adjustable PIR sensitivity, colour daytime and black and white night-time images, a built-in LCD screen for viewing images, a Burst Mode that shoots one to three pictures or 10s of video when motion is detected, and imprints of time and date on each image.
The STC-WD21R is a 2.0-megapixel model that uses 27 infrared emitters to illuminate the coverage area and also features the Burst Mode. Additional features include: 16MB of built-in memory for up to 160 images, programmable from 1min to 60min between motion, icon-based menu setting, time and date on every image, and an expandable SD-memory card slot for cards up to 2GB (sold separately).
An auxiliary power jack for an external 12V battery pack is available separately.
