Schaeffler expand X-life rolling bearing range
New high-performance toroidal bearings offer higher loads and operational reliability
SCHAEFFLER have launched a new range of toroidal rolling bearings with angular adjustment capability, providing high operational reliability, even under heavy loads.
Manufactured to the company’s premium-quality X-life standard, the latest FAG Torb rolling bearings are single-row units with long, slightly spherical rollers, allowing them to combine the angular adjustment capabilities of a spherical roller bearing with the axial displacement capabilities of a cylindrical or needle roller bearing.
According to Schaeffler, this makes the bearings suitable for a wide range of industrial applications, including crushers, belt and conveyor systems and marine drives.
FAG Torb toroidal rolling bearings are available in two versions: as full complement bearings; or as a caged version. When a design envelope is restricted, the caged bearing provides very high radial load carrying capacity, even when skewing or axial displacements need to be compensated for. The full bearing offers a particularly high-load carrying capacity.
Temperature-related linear expansion and misalignments mean that non-locating bearing designs are particularly important. FAG Torb bearings have been specially developed by Schaeffler to be a non-locating unit for use in combination with a spherical roller bearing as the locating bearing, allowing either higher load ratings or a smaller design envelope to be achieved, compared with conventional locating/non-locating bearing arrangements.
Complete interchangeability with previous bearing designs is also provided, as the X-life units are manufactured to the same ISO dimensions as spherical and cylindrical roller bearings that are used as non-locating bearings.
FAG Torb bearings are characterized by their high operational reliability and long operating life. They are also said to be dimensionally stable up to an operating temperature of 200°C as standard.
