Safer on site with Groeneveld Greensight
GROENEVELD Transport Efficiency BV have introduced a new, ‘intelligent’ camera system with colour monitor, designed to operate as a stand-alone system or in combination with the Groeneveld Greensight rear obstacle detection system.
Features of the new camera system include: the ability to display images from up to four cameras simultaneously; automatic switching between cameras and picture-in-picture navigation; and the ability to use the monitor together with a navigation system.
Linked with a Greensight rear obstacle detection system, the monitor also informs the operator about detected objects by means of acoustical and optical warning signals.
Groeneveld say the Greensight system with camera is an effective safety and damage-prevention tool, as both active ultrasonic and camera detection are used to detect people and/or objects and accurately inform the driver how far his machine is from a critical collision.
Two ultrasound sensor units scan the area behind the vehicle. This area is divided into three adjustable zones. The closer the person or obstacle, the more insistent the optical and acoustic signals become. When the distance to the person or object reaches 70cm or less, the word STOP appears on the monitor.
The standard Greensight with camera arrangement comes with a multi-functional colour monitor with CAN-bus connection. The monitor is equipped with a buzzer for acoustic signalling and is suitable for displaying four camera images with a full screen or optional split screen.
To prevent information overload for the driver, the system can be programmed to only show images when they are required for a specific operation or when an obstacle is detected.
Another important Greensight option to help increase on-site safety is the smart alarm. This intelligent horn replaces the standard reversing alarm and only warns people if they are in immediate danger.
In addition, the alarm sound level operates as a function of the job site noise level, resulting in a significant decrease in overall site noise levels.
