Return of the JCB Mud Run
Company to stage even muddier challenge than before in fund-raising effort for the NSPCC
BACK but filthier, murkier and more challenging than ever – the JCB Mud Run returns this summer as the company continues to raise money for the NSPCC.
Up to 700 mudlarks are expected to tackle a newly designed five-mile course on land near the company’s world headquarters in Rocester on Saturday 29 June.
Designers are still dreaming up fiendish challenges although one feature this year will be a 100 foot long and just under 10 foot high underground tunnel complete with obstacles. Elsewhere cargo nets, rope swings, slides, monkey bars and jumps will further test those taking part.
Around 500 people took part last year, raising £30,624 to help JCB hit its target of donating £1 million to the NSPCC.
JCB worldwide marketing director Matt McClurg said: ‘This year’s Mud Run promises to be even muddier, tougher and more testing than the inaugural event. It’s for a fantastic cause and we’re confident it’ll be even bigger and better than last time.’
Mud runners must be 16 or over and will be bussed to the course where clothes and bag storage, as well as washing facilities, will be available. Hot food and drinks will also be available all day.
Spectators are welcome on the day too with activities including a mini mud run for children.
Entry fees before 31 May are £45 for individuals and £160 for a team of four. From 1 June, entry fees will be £55 for an individual and £200 for a team. Entrants have until Friday 28 June to register at: www.thejcbmudrun.co.uk
